YE “EatBetter”

From 17th til 25th of May our Estonian team of 6 spent time in Spain learning about different cuisines of Europe. The idea of the project was to introduce us to the national dishes, games and cultures of countries like Armenia, Spain, Poland, Italy and of course Estonia.

In the mornings we had invigorating games, thanks to which we got to know each other better. In the afternoon we had a master class on national dishes of different countries, usually we prepared four dishes, which included: two appetisers, a main dish and of course a dessert. In the evenings people from different countries told interesting facts about their countries, showed their national dances and games, it was a lot of fun.

During the lunch break, when we had a few hours to rest from the scorching Spanish sun, we walked to the river, where we could swim or just enjoy the beautiful nature. Also during the lunch break we listened to music and chatted with our new acquaintances and just had fun together.

The venue was away from the busy city life which made us connect even more to each other. The whole atmosphere was so nice and amazing.  Due to the fact that everyone was in new teams every day while cooking, it really brought everyone closer to each other.

Here are some thoughts about our group’s favourite moments from this project:

  •  My best and most vivid memory from this project is the people and the whole atmosphere. Each of them has their own interesting life story that gives invaluable experience, as well as new friends.

  • I will definitely remember the “Masterchef” competition, which my team won with its peculiar and delicious meals.

  •  I really enjoyed talking to people that were there because they were all so down to earth and in the same place as me. I loved our every day morning runs in the mountains that ended with a little jump to the river with breathtaking views.

  • My brightest memory of the project was the art session initiated by Karl. We were drawing each other while listening to nice music. I think that this activity helped me to know other people better, and get to know their unique features and how their personality mirrors their wonderful appearances.

Spain, is a country that is very diverse and rich in delicious food, which may not be particularly healthy, but it is very tasty.  Spanish people are very friendly and kind, every time there were some problems in Madrid people on the street were happy to help, even if they spoke poor English.

We would recommend Erasmus+ projects to our friends as it's truly a unique experience that might change your perception of life. You will meet new people, and you will experience something new and unforgettable. Projects can open up new skills and abilities in you that you didn't know you had before. They can teach you a lot of things you won't learn at university and it's an invaluable experience for you. Travelling the world on a budget and finding new connections to enrich your life - this is how we would sum up the Erasmus+ experience.
